When it comes to acne and treatment there is a lot of information out there on which treatment is the best. Since medical methods are continuously advancing, there are many different treatments being used to keep acne under control.

The most commonly used acne treatment is known as exfoliating. Exfoliating your skin means using a chemical exfoliating agent as a topical application to make the top layer of your skin to peel off.

Now it may sound like a horrific process to have to your skin peel off, but this is only on a microscopic level. Using an abrasive cloth or a liquid scrub can also help you dissolve layers of your skin on a microscopic level.

Another treatment commonly used to treat acne is known as tetracycline. Tetracycline is an antibiotic that will kill the bacteria found in the blocked hair follicle. Although this treatment will take a few months it will effectively reduce the inflammation and is considered to be very safe.

If your acne condition is mild to moderate you can achieve impressive results by using photosynthesis as a treatment. Research has shown that intense blue light produced by specially made fluorescent tubes can be a very effective acne treatment.

Finally, if your not afraid of enduring some negative side effects such as nose bleeding and dry skin. Then you will find taking vitamin A derivatives as being an effective treatment. This treatment will permanently cure your acne by reducing the amount of oil that is being created on your skin.

Your medical condition might not allow you to take certain treatment so its important for you to talk with your doctor first. Once you have this talk with your doctor you will know which is the best treatment option you should take.

It is simply one of the toughest trials of adolescence – having skin covered in unsightly marks. It has driven countless sufferers into the throes of despair, misery and even depression.

It gets worse, because there are three notable things about acne vulgaris, as the inflammation is commonly known, which make it the bane of countless people the world over:

1. It affects all ages – from adolescence to the latter part of our lives.
2. It strikes all body parts – face, neck, back, arms etc
3. No one really knows its cause. We know that it affects the sebaceous glands which hold the hair follicles but we are not sure why exactly the unsightly papules are formed.

What is more, untreated acne can turn into cysts and cause scarring. Complications abound and treatments vary from cosmetics to laser treatments costing thousands of dollars.

Are these treatments really needed? There are a few natural steps which the canny sufferer can follow to alleviate the symptoms and even potentially lead an acne free life.

Interested? Read on, all will be revealed.

Vitamins A and E
A leading study in the Clinical Experimental Dermatol has shown that patients with severe acne tend to have lower levels of vitamins A and E in their blood streams. For vitamin A make sure that you eat plenty of fish, liver, carrots, eggs and dark green yellow vegetables. For vitamin E try eating spinach, sprouts and nuts. You may also want to consider taking supplements to ensure that your chances of fighting off the acne are maximised. It is also thought that Zinc, which is renowned for its immune and anti inflammatory properties, is effective in the fight against acne. Zinc is also thought to help regulate oil glands and the sebum that plays an important part in the formation of this skin condition. Zinc can be found in beef, lamb, pork, crabmeat, turkey, chicken, lobster, clams and salmon. For vegetarians pumpkin seeds offer one of the most concentrated non-meat food sources of zinc but it can also be found in peanuts, beans, wholegrain cereals, brown rice and potatoes.

Sugary foods
Recent studies seem to favour a hypothesis that food and drink high with refined sugar has a part to play in the formation of acne. Foods such as chocolate, sweets and soft drinks produce blood glucose, which in turn causes high levels of insulin which has proven to cause (amongst other things) increased levels of acne. Cutting down on refined sugars will also decrease the chances of diabetes, tooth decay and weight gain, so all round is good advice to follow.

Milk
A number of recent studies published by the American Academy of Dermatology have shown a link between acne and cows milk and its derivatives such as yogurts and cheese. It isnt clear whether this is due to artificial growth hormones fed to the cows or just natural intolerance to non-human milk. If you are suffering acne try cutting down on your milk consumption – science suggests that you will see an improvement in your acne.

Living with acne is no walk in the park, and the emotional as well as physical effects of the condition are well recognised. Heed the advice within this article, however, and your chances of ridding yourself of this ailment will be maximised.

Acne vulgaris is the most common type of skin disease that can affect anyone between the ages of 12 to 40 years. One of the most common reasons of acne break out is overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands. There could be several reasons behind the excess oil production. Hormonal imbalance, hereditary factors or simply excess consumption of oily and fatty foods can cause pimples.

When pimples, whitehead or blackheads keep appearing despite taking OTC medicines, you must take some something really effective to cure it from the root. Repeated occurrence of pimples should be treated by taking all the possible measures. Some of the effective methods to get rid of these ugly scars are as follows

Keep your face or the affected area dry.
Drink as much water as possible. Intake of water keeps the skin hydrated which is very effective for overall toning of skin.
Increase the consumption of green vegetable and fresh fruits.
Exfoliation of skin regularly is also very effective in getting rid of those ugly blemishes.
Reduce the intake of excessive oily and fatty foods. Though there are difference in the opinion about correlation of oily foods and pimple, one can be proactive by cutting down on its consumption.

This is the very question I found on several message boards, and surprisingly not many people had an answer ready for it. Is there no acne cure for folks with darker skin?

Ive gone off to investigate the situation. There are many good products available, and something has to work for every skin care and color, no matter what. Ive check out the producs properties, the websites advertised, read through countless posts on different acne forums, message boards and online groups. And what were my findings?

First of all, there is a myth that all acne products work the same for all skin types. This is wrong. There is also the myth that the people with dark skin have it much better, because their skin is tougher. The opposite is actually true. Dark skin is sometimes more difficult to treat for acne, pimples and acne scars, because the skin is usually more sensitive! Who would have known, right? I mean everybody is feeling sorry for the Nordic European girls who burn their faces by being in the sun for more than 10 minutes.

Truth is, if you have dark skin and have severe acne, you might notice that once the inflamation has retreated, the skin has now a lightened (hyperpigmentation) or darkened spot (hypo-pigmentation) shade. These spots will go away with time. But who has the time? Not when youre that close to Christmas, or to your next prom party, or to meeting your first date just in a few weeks time.

There are a few things that DO work. However I also found that not everything works. Some type of products leave this skin discoloration I mentioned above and its darn difficult to fix it in the short time.

Acne is a common skin condition that plagues many people, from teens to adults. For those who suffer from severe acne, scarring is one of the worst effects. This can cause a lifelong struggle with self-image and embarrassment and truly affects self-esteem.

There are many treatments available that deal with scars, from very simple to more intricate surgical procedures. But, when considering acne scar treatment it is important to first understand the three types of acne scars.

Three Types of Acne Scars

Icepick

Icepick scars are narrow, sharp scars that make skin appear it was punctured with an icepick. These types of scars are too deep to correct with skin resurfacing treatments or with laser.

Boxcar

Boxcar scars are typically round to oval shaped and have vertical edges. The best treatments for these are resurfacing. Deep boxcar scars require full-thickness treatment styles.

Rolling Scars

These types give the skin a rolling or undulating appearance. The best treatments for these are to break up the subcutaneous fibrous bands.

In the past many doctors used acutane to treat scarring of the skin as a result of acne. These days there are many ways and procedures to deal with scars on the skin, as well as other parts of the body.

Dermal Filler

Dermal filler injections are used to raise the skin surface for a smooth look. This is not a permanent solution and future treatments are required.

Punch Excision

A Punch Excision is surgery and is used to correct very deep scarring for the icepick and boxcar types. If the surgery is not enough to noticeably correct these scars then resurfacing treatments are performed as a follow up treatment. Also, if necessary a skin graft replacement can be performed in addition to the above two procedures.

Punch Elevation

This is another surgical method, which is often used on deep acne scars. Subcutaneous incision, known as Subcision, is used to break up the fibrous bands causing rolling scars. For this procedure a local anesthetic is used and it uses a beveled needle. There is some bruising as a result, which usually goes away after one week.

Laser

Laser resurfacing is another treatment. This type of procedure uses carbon dioxide and erbium lasers, which burn the top layers of the affected skin area and in turn the skin heals itself with newer skin.

Laser is the most popular treatment to date, with many getting great results for even the worst of acne scars.

Acne is one of the most embarrassing skin conditions that plagues almost everyone during teenage. It is caused by excess hormonal secretions which in turn prompts sebaceous glands to produce more sebum than required. The accumulation of sebum under the skin pores causes the break out of whiteheads and pimples. Acne treatment is required when these blemishes do not go away even after entering twenties.

Most of the acne treatments available on the market are temporary solutions, therefore even if you are able to cure it at one place, it appears at another place. Acne can erupt anywhere on the body but usually it erupts on the face, upper neck and back. Living with acne means embarrassment while speaking in a group of friends. Not only do you start fighting shy of meeting people but also sometime you feel depressed. In some extreme cases people have also gone to the extent of suicide

Acne is not something to be worried about. What you actually need is a complete internal as well as topical treatment so that you can get rid of it completely. Following are a few things about acne treatment.

Only topical creams are not enough to treat acne. you must fix the internal imbalance to get rid of acne
No two treatments should be used simultaneously. It is very important that if you use herbal formula then chemical formula will cause moreharm than any good
Even if your current acne is treated, it does not mean it is gone forever. You must continue the treatment for recommended period of time.

Baby acne normally develops on the cheeks, the forehead and the scalp. Rarely, this condition may manifest as blackheads or as back acne. This form is very common and normally appears about three to four weeks after birth. Although it is very rare for a baby to be born with acne, the presence of tiny bumps on the face of your new born is usually an unrelated skin condition. It is normally referred to as milia and is harmless. It usually disappears after a few days.

Although it is unclear what causes this condition, experts say that excess hormones stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce sebum which is in turn secreted in the skin. When the sebum is mixed with other dead skin cells, it results into the disease. In baby acne, the hormones are produced by the mother and are passed onto the baby via the placenta.

Acne normally manifests in babies after three to four weeks because it is only after the baby has been born that the excess oil will mix with debris and clog the pores. You should not worry when your baby develops acne because it is perfectly natural. It normally disappears on its own after a few weeks.

This condition is normally not dangerous but you can try the following measures to help clear the disease. Use baby soap to clean gently the baby’s skin at least twice a day, that is, in the morning and in the evening. Do not scrub because it may lead to further irritation. Use a soft towel to dry the baby after the bath. These measures can help clear baby acne and therefore you don’t have to go for medicated treatments.
