Everyone has heard of skin peels and there are many – lactic, glycolic, salicylic, TCA (trichloroacetic acid), and phenol. Of these there are basically 3 levels:

Minor, superficial peels – lactic, glycolic, salicylic.
Medium depth peels – TCA, Jessner’s
Deep peels – phenol.

We will only deal with medium strength TCA peels here as they are the easiest to apply (Jessner’s can require multiple concurrent applications and taping to aide in skin penetration), safest, and, by far, the most effective against numerous skin ailments/conditions. They are also one of the most effective treatments for acne currently known to the medical community.

The most common treated area is the face. TCA is applied usually in a cream. Doctors will mix Obagi, Apeel, or other previously prepared cream with TCA and then apply this mixture to the face or body area to be treated. The creams tend to have a skin dye of green or blue so the doctor can easily see what areas have and or have not been treated. It is usually applied with a cotton or foam applicator. This is then left on for 10-20 minutes. Some doctors prefer to use a straight (non-cream) solution of TCA. This works much faster and penetrates deeper and is used for deeper peels.

After application and proper time for the desired depth is achieved, the doctor will apply a neutralizer. This is usually just a mixture of baking soda and water made into a paste. Some doctors will add chipped ice to further cool the skin. The skin will now be inflammed and if no dye was used will look like a bad sunburn. This will last 2-4 days until it starts to peel off and reveal new, clean, younger looking skin. Depending on the skin problems treated it may take several treatments, but a major difference will be seen immediately.

The results from a TCA peel are far more reaching than with a regular, superficial peel. Results can last 6 months to a year and it has been known to keep acne at bay, shrink and lessen acne scars, reduce and tighten up wrinkles, improve color, pigmentation, etc… A TCA peel cannot be applied as often as a more superficial peel. Generally speaking, a superficial peel can be applied every 2-5 weeks. A Stronger, medium depth peel needs more time batween peels for the skin to properly heal and regenerate. Doctors like to wait 2-6 months or more between these peels.

This process of chemically exfoliating the skin is more rapid and deeper in a TCA peel than in most peels. Many skin peels, like lactic, glycolic and salicylic are good at reducing oily buildup (overactive sebaceous glands), and very minor skin imperfections. but they cannot effectively treat acne, wrinkles, fine lines, etc… TCA has been proven to treat these deeper skin conditions and is offered at almost every dermatologist and plastic surgeon office. The improvement in skin color, tone, etc… is so drastic that women, even men are lining up in droves to have this done all over the world.

Acne scars are ugly, and it is unfortunate if the person has it on their face. Some acne does leave miserable scars on the face and body, but luckily there is treatment for these types of scars. It is essential that a person being treated for the acne scars does not have active acne anywhere else on the face. Acne scars might occur if you keep pinching the acne on your face and try to break it or squeeze it out.

Even persistent acne is capable of leaving a scar on the face. There are different kinds of scars which occur on different people. The kind of treatment for the scar totally depends on the kind of scar. One type of treatment cannot be applied to all the scars. Sometimes cosmetology is recommended for severe scarring, or if the scars are too big. Cosmatic surgery is not usually recommended for small scars or single marks, but it is left at the discretion of the person who has the scar. Getting rid of acne and the scars it causes is a complex process and a lot of treatments are adapted to cure it. These kinds of treatments include punch techniques, laser acne treatments, and injections or augmentations are also used. Until recently, the reason why acne leaves scars was not very clear. Sometimes acne just dries up on the skin and ends up scarring the face.

Scars are not very pleasant to have, and they spoil the looks of a person. If it is on the face, then it is far worse. Women especially face a lot of problems due to acne as they are more susceptible to getting it and they are more likely to have acne scars. For women it is more important to look good as a lot of confidence comes from the way they look. Because of the acne scars they don’t mind getting a surgical remedy even for the tiniest blemish.

Usually mild acne conditions are treated best by topical acne ointments. More severe cases of acne however need to be treated in a variety of other ways. These include oral antibiotics, prescription ointments, and physical acne treatments such as a chemical acne peel and drainage.

A dermatologist must be the one to conduct these physical treatments. Although some folks consider the self popping of pimples one of the remedies for acne, this is not suggested or advised. Popping pimples may spread bacteria that causes acne to spread. This so called acne home remedy may also result in facial scarring. Dermatologist supervised physical treatments will minimize your risk of complications and will provide you with the best outcome.

Exfoliation-this is the removing of the top layer of your skin either chemically or using abrasion. Salicylic acid and glycolic acid are usually used for chemical peels. Chemical peels for acne work by destroying the microscopic layer of the cells of your skin. This procedure unclogs pores and removes dead cell build up. This effect can also be achieved through the use of a liquid scrub or abrasive cloth. You can have glycolic acid treatments every two to four weeks over a six-month period. Salicylic acid treatments are milder however and can be used daily.

Comedo Extraction-acne blackheads and acne whiteheads (comedones) can be removed with sterile instruments by any dermatologist. An anesthetic cream is first applied to the area. Then the comedone is opened up using a surgical instrument. This procedure allows for the removal of plugged skin cells and sebum. This is then followed by applying antibiotic cream. As you have heard before, do not try this at home. We have already learned that picking or squeezing your pimples will cause infection and scarring that may be permanent.

Drainage-cysts can sometimes develop under your skin in the cases of severe acne. Most folks find that these cysts can be painful as well as disfiguring. With folks suffering from smaller cysts, these can be treated with cortisone injections causing the lesions to flatten within a day or two. Folks suffering from larger cysts however may find that they need to be drained as well as surgically removed. By draining these cysts, not only can the pain associated with the cysts be relieved but this also helps to reduce the chance of scarring. The draining of cysts is done in your dermatologist’s office using instruments that have been sterilized. Again you must not try to do this on your own as the risk of infection and permanent scarring is high.

Light therapy-light therapy is used sometimes to fight the bacteria causing acne. Light therapy may be useful in treating areas that are hard to reach. However this procedure may only have a short term effect because it does nothing about the production of sebum or the buildup of dead skin cells.

Laser therapy-this procedure can help get rid of acne scars. It is found to be useful for treating the scars left behind by acne. Laser surgery of acne scar is useful and effective for both surface level scarring in addition to deep tissue scarring left behind by serious acne conditions. Currently research is being conducted on the using of lasers for the treatment of acne. Several approaches to laser therapy are being researched:

1) the first approach is investigating burning away the follicle sac in which the hair grows.

2) the second approach is looking at the burning away of the sebum producing gland.

3) the third approach is researching the forming of oxygen in the bacteria in an attempt to kill this bacteria.

However we do not yet know if laser acne treatment will result in permanent damage to your skin.

Getting rid of acne scars is hard, I know because I dealt with them myself for a while. However, I am writing this article on how to get rid of acne scars in hopes of helping you finally remove them for good like I did. These tips I’m about to share with you are not guaranteed but they have worked for some.

My most inexpensive tip I have for you on how to get rid of acne scars is Vitamin E oil because it can naturally help minimize the acne marks so they are less noticeable. Just simply , go to the store and buy a bottle of vitamin E oil and rub some onto the scars every night before you go to bed and you should notice a difference after a few days.

Now, another option is take a trip down to the dermatologist and they will usually give you a prescription medication that you take everyday. In some cases, this is more accurate and effective than the vitamin E oil. I don’t prefer the dermatologist because it’s usually very expensive for the medication and it’s not even guaranteed to work, from my personal experience.

Another option on how to get rid of acne scars is a procedure called “chemical peeling” in which the top layer of your skin is placed with a certain chemical that burns the scars off.

Those tips I mentioned above can say work in some degree, Dealing with scars though it’s hard to tell though which is more effective.

I had acne marks for a long time, but using top-notch natural curing techniques on how to get rid of acne scars. I’m proud to say I’ve been scar free for almost 2 years now…

People who suffer from mild or even moderate acne will usually recover without any serious scars. In severe cases however, scarring is almost an inevitable problem. Don’t lose hope – new treatments can help to minimize scarring and there are new techniques that can even remove existing scars.

Pimples will often leave behind a patch of discolored skin. This discoloration isn’t actually a scar – it usually clears up within a few months. Marks that remain for more than a year are considered to be scars.

The healing process can sometimes be accelerated by using medications like Retin-A, Renova and Alpha-Hydroxy. Sunshine can lead to further skin damage so always be sure to wear sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun for any length of time.

How To Prevent Scars

Scarring can be prevented with active treatment and self control. One of the most common things to lead to scarring is picking or squeezing acne. People often squeeze pimples, but this is one of the worst things they can do. This can cause skin damage which can lead to scarring, plus it can cause the bacteria that causes acne to spread, making the condition worse.

You also need to avoid picking scabs that form over acne lesions. These scabs are a part of the healing process and if they’re picked off, it exposes the skin underneath which can lead to it not healing properly and scarring.

How to Treat Scars

Acne scars can be treated in a number of different ways. If the scarring is not too severe, a chemical peel may be an effective treatment. This will remove the top layer of skin and allow the cells beneath to rejuvenate themselves.

Severe cases of scarring can be treated with lasers or dermabrasion techniques. Lasers will remove the damaged layer of skin and tighten the underlying skin, raising the depression that the scar has caused.

Dermabrasion gets rid of scars by literally scraping away the surface of the skin where the scarring occurred. A new layer of skin is formed during healing, replacing the layer that was removed.

If you’re living in Orange County in the US, and you have skin problems such as acne, I’ve got good news for you. The Orange county acne treatments are some of the most reliable in the US, using the advantage of advanced technology such as laser light. For instance, the Fraxel laser is used to treat a wide range of skin problems.

Fraxel laser is designed to create very superficial “wounds” in well-targeted areas, but beneath the outmost skin layer. This triggers a very important body response, as it starts producing new collagen and skin cells. This Orange county acne treatment uses both ablative and non-ablative lasers, allowing a quick process of healing.

Acne is one of the most frequent skin disorders that affects around 17 million people only in the United States. Common acne results from the result of a hormone imbalance on the oil glands in the skin, also known as the sebaceous glands. If too much oil is secreted, then the pores get plugged and acne outbreaks. This is the domain of Orange county acne treatments.

Are you exasperated with acne, and don’t know how to deal with it? The Orange county acne treatments are solutions to acne affecting various parts of the body, not just the face. Acne may appear on the neck, the back, the shoulders, the chest and even on the buttocks. It is all the more annoying since tight clothes can make it almost unbearable.

If you have been suffering from acne for quiet a while now, and it shows no sign of improvement, you may consider one of the options the Orange county acne treatment clinics offer. In order to avoid scarring it is better to act immediately. Sometimes normal cosmetic products are not good enough to stop acne from growing worse.

The solution is to find a product based on natural ingredients and combine it with regular Orange county acne treatment sessions that are effective on the long run and can get you rid of acne for good. There are severe cases when acne is a part of a larger problem, for instance a serious body infection. In such cases, besides acne, there are other symptoms such as lethargy and fever.

Orange county acne scar treatment comes to the help of those people who have got extended skin damage due to acne. In such a situation a laser therapy not only cleans their face skin, but it helps them overcome the psychological barrier disfiguration may have caused them.

The best way to protect your skin from acne-related scarring is to take preventative measures early on. But it is often true that people who suffer from acne are unable to prevent future scarring sufficiently. In fact, it is estimated that more than 10 million Americans end up with scarring caused by acne.
There are many degrees of acne-related scarring. In some cases, the scarring is very minimal and hard to notice. But in other cases, scarring is severe and can cause long-term emotional damage. Many teenagers who have severe scarring caused by acne suffer from depression and a loss of self-confidence. They may become emotionally withdrawn and isolated, unhappy with their appearance.
There are many different factors that contribute to the level of severity of acne-related scarring. Dermatological studies indicate that genetics may play a large role in determining how mild or severe an individual’s scarring may be. It is also evident that adolescents who suffer from particularly problematic acne may be more likely to have severe scarring in adulthood.
Luckily, many therapies and medical procedures have been developed to help ease acne-related scarring. The earlier someone begins appropriate treatment, the better the chance that scarring will be diminished.
Those who are considering undergoing therapy or medical procedures to combat acne-related scarring should discuss the possibilities with their dermatologists.
Laser treatment is one approach to help with acne-related scarring.
There are two major kinds of lasers that are used in acne scar laser therapy. They are ablative lasers and non-ablative lasers.
Ablative lasers work by removing the outermost layers of the skin. These lasers burn scar tissue and cause a tightening in the dermal collagen. This reduces the visibility of the scarring. The yellow light laser, a sort of ablative laser, can help to treat keloidal scars by reducing redness and flattening the surface. Yellow light lasers also reduce itching of raised scars.
Laser treatments performed with ablative lasers actually injure the skin and leave it exposed without its outermost protective layers. Those who receive this sort of laser therapy must take extreme care to help wounds heal and prevent possible infection from occurring. The skin may appear reddened for a several months or even a year after the laser treatment.
Non-ablative laser treatments affect the dermis directly and do not injure the outermost layers of skin, or the epidermis. Smoothbeam is a non-ablative laser recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Smoothbeam works by heating the sebum-producing sebaceous gland, which helps to reduce acne formation. Smoothbeam also heats the collagen, which causes a tightening in the dermis, making scarring less apparent,
Before non-ablative laser treatment is performed, a topical cream is applied to the skin. In order to prevent epidermal damage, the skin is cooled. The patient receiving this treatment will experience some stinging and some sensations of heat during the procedure, but the topical cream helps ease these sensations. The procedure lasts for about an hour. Three sessions are usually recommended to achieve noticeable improvement in acne-related scarring.
Because ablative and non-ablative laser treatments for acne-related scarring differ so much in their effects and side effects, those considering laser therapy should discuss the details of these procedures with their dermatologists.
